Frame Three

Picture, if you will, an average guy or gal sitting here, holding a piece of white board with a message written on it. What would it say? Something like this... "It's too damn cold to be sitting here having my photograph taken!" ...and they'd be right.

This shot was taken at a park in Des Moines called Water Works. It's along the Raccoon River and is where the Des Moines water treatment plant is located. On a nice day there probably would have been someone sitting here reading a book or just taking in the sun. Not this day, though. When I shot this the temperature was hovering at about 0 degrees (fahrenheit) with a wind chill of about -22 and I was the only fool, errr, person in sight. After a fairly mild December, we're finally having a bit of "normal" Iowa winter weather. I don't normally mind the cold, unless the wind is blowing and the wind chill is at -22 degrees. Then it sucketh, royally. :)

I guess I'm a fool with you. I love cold weather like that... but I wouldn't sit on the bench. I might get stuck to the seat!

Nice picture, but I agree, too cold!

I usually stay inside when it is that cold! My husband's family and my oldest son live in Minneapolis, and we drive through Des Moines when we visit. I would like to stop and see what is there, but we never have time. Maybe I will get to see some of the city through your blog!
And nice shot, by the way.

It looks so peaceful, but of course that's probably because it's so darn cold :-) I really like this composition - good job!

PS I'll add you to my link page. It looks like I missed your link earlier - sorry about that.

Nice, sharp B&W photo! I like the simplicity of the bench in the snow. BTW, aloha from sunny & warm Hawaii! =)

Now that really does feel cold! I admit to liking a stroll, sitting on a bench some place and watching the world go by - but I will sit this one out, so to speak...

Very nice picture, glad to see that I'm not the only one who has to deal with the cold weather... ;D

I agree that this image is very crisp. It also has a nice range of tones. I admire your grit, given the temperature. I know I wouldn't have ventured out (that's also the reason I moved from New England to Honolulu about three years ago...as annie said, it's "sunny & warm").
